I walk down the street and I see female faces from my tribe that show no love. No acknowledgment that we are from the same tribe. A so-called black man will walk past me and acknowledge me with a nod of his head. A so -called black woman will most often ,but not always, look right past me without even looking in my direction. The look on their faces is often of distrust,anger and frustration. America has not been kind to my African Queens! America has severed the sacred connection between the African King and Queen. I don’t expect the African Queen to just jump into my arms and hug me and kiss me whenever she sees me. Although, that would be nice! I just want you to see me and to know that this king walks beside you. I just want you to know that when you do decide to smile and say hello, that you light up the universe! That you are so much more powerful than you realize. Our self worth was taken from us centuries ago during slavery in America. We’ve become disconnected! You haven’t been told how beautiful and strong you’ve always been. You haven’t been told that you are the first perfect woman that was ever created! All women were molded from your image. You don’t need to buy someone else’s hair to magnify your beauty, it actually takes away from it. There’s nothing wrong with your nose or your lips. You’re beautiful whether you’re dark or light! Your hair is also beautiful whether it’s kinky, combed or pressed. And what is it that you haven’t said to me? Do you admire my strength and creativity? The black woman doesn’t want to admit that she needs me as much as I need her! She doesn’t tell me that I was the original perfect man, and that all other men were molded in my image. She hasn’t told me how handsome I am, and that I don’t need to cut my nose or bleach my skin. That these things take away from me. There are Sooo many things that we don’t say to each other that we should say! Our self hatred shows in the people that we choose and the people we don’t choose. We don’t even know that we’re broken, disconnected. How can we heal if we don’t even know that we’re sick?
